Seeking Full Time SAIL Program Therapist for Parry Sound District
The Therapist works in partnership with women and the team to provide multiple trauma-informed individual and group based therapeutic experiences and flexible services to engage, support, and assist women to identify and resolve the impacts of sexual assault trauma in their lives. The Therapist works as part of a trauma-informed, intersectional feminist organization to assist in creating systemic change towards reduction of gender based violence. We are prioritizing decolonization work, as a team along with Indigenous women and allies, recognizing that colonial settler oppression has had a major influence on gendered and racialized violence in this region and the country. Accordingly, the Therapist participates in community and systemic advocacy initiatives in partnership with Indigenous and other community organizations to build more collaborative approaches for culturally safe and trauma informed systems development in the region. The Therapist may be assigned other duties as required to strengthen the agency’s role in the Parry Sound/North Muskoka region.
In addition to competence with all organizational policies and procedures, the incumbent is also expected to behave ethically, participate in effective communication and team building, contribute actively to work in a dynamic, collaborative environment, and have confidence in decision-making and in building relationships. The Therapist must maintain an anti-racist, anti-oppression lens with therapy and community engagement, recognizing the societal influences on individuals.
This position reports to the Board of Directors and is supervised by the Executive Director.
A Master’s level degree in health or social services (social work or psychotherapy preferred) BSW or equivalent will be considered with extensive related experience
Current Registration with the OCSWSSW, CRPO or a regulatory body under the Regulated Health Professions Act
Degree plus two years or more experience in a community-based organization working with women survivors of violence or adults with serious mental illness or addictions
Knowledge of the Ontario Mental Health Act, and PHIPA requirements
Ability to apply principles of CBT, DBT, trauma based therapies and feminist/womanist empowerment oriented philosophies and practices in work with women
A knowledge of Indigenous culture and impacts of colonization, and/or work with racialized individuals, communities or organizations is a strong asset
A valid Canadian Full G driver’s license, a minimum $1,000,000 third party liability insurance and reliable vehicle
A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening (Police Check)
