ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

Introduction

Welcome to the Muskoka Parry Sound Sexual Assault Services (MPSSAS) website. We're dedicated to creating a welcoming and inclusive digital space for everyone. Recognizing the diverse needs of our community, we aim to ensure our website is accessible to all, including individuals with disabilities. We are especially aware that gender based violence, sexual violence (and more) are experienced at significantly higher rates by individuals with diverse abilities. It is critical to our work as an intersectional feminist agency and to our ongoing efforts to decolonize to ensure that our services are accessible to individuals with diverse or disabilities.

At MPSSAS, we believe in the importance of providing a website that is easy to use for everyone, regardless of the technology used to access our site. We understand that everyone's needs are different. We adhere to the belief that every person has the right to live with dignity, equality, comfort, and independence. We are committed to continuously improving our digital accessibility to ensure that all our visitors have equal access to information and functionality.

We understand that accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we're actively working on enhancing the accessibility of our website to ensure it complies with the best practices and standards. This includes incorporating accessibility into our design process, and keeping accessibility in mind when we add new content or features to the website.

We work diligently to adhere to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level. These guidelines, developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), provide a wide range of recommendations to make web content more accessible to individuals with disabilities. Following these guidelines helps us ensure that our website is user-friendly, comprehensive and easily navigable for everyone.

We appreciate your understanding and patience as we continue this important work, and we welcome your feedback on any aspect of our website's accessibility. Together, we can ensure our website is a welcoming space for all.

Known Limitations and Our Efforts

We recognize that there are areas on our website that require further attention to improve accessibility. Despite our best efforts, we acknowledge that some parts of our website may not be fully in line with our commitment to accessibility. These include:

  • Headings on pages may vary in presentation.

  • Some clickable links can create multiple focusable elements using tab-based navigation.

  • Videos embedded on the website may not be available with descriptive audio depending on the source.

We want to assure you that we are actively working on addressing these issues. Our team is dedicated to fixing these limitations as part of our ongoing pledge for digital accessibility.
